Calderdale Council’s Transportation Team strives to develop the plans, strategies, policies and scheme pipeline that will deliver better, more liveable streets and sustainable transport options to support our communities in living healthier lives with a reduced carbon impact. This is balanced with a need to develop transport improvements that deliver economic growth and betterment of the local economy whilst also managing our commitment to reducing transport emissions to net-zero as quickly as possible.

To continue the growth of our service, the Transportation team are looking to recruit two Transport Planners to support the delivery of our capital projects and our local plan and to shape policy in response to our Net Zero objectives. Your responsibilities will include supporting the delivery of multi-modal policy development, supporting the planning of capital and revenue schemes including bus reform and mass transit. You will work closely with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and other key stakeholders. The role will be responsible for attending project meetings and writing relevant reports, political briefings, highlight reporting, papers, presentations and other relevant material as required. You will be involved in the development, management and delivery of outputs of contracts with consultant suppliers who work with CMBC on both business cases for capital schemes and policy / strategy development.

If you have recent experience of successfully supporting a significant transport project and/ or policy development for local government, we would welcome your application. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills and collaborative working. Applicants would be expected to be qualified in Transport Planning or an equivalent transport and/or built environment related field to Masters level or to have professional working experience in the Transport Planning field.
