Summary

Responsibilities
Supporting the pupil
To provide learning support for the pupil in class, in small groups or in 1:1 sessions
To develop an understanding of the particular needs of the child and work with direction from their Teachers, Deputy Head and Head of Learning Development (SENCO) as required
To develop methods and activities that facilitate understanding, learning and development
To support access to the full range of learning experiences, maintaining an inclusive learning environment both inside and outside the classroom
To make or modify resources as suggested by their Teachers, Deputy Head and Head of Learning Development (SENCO)
To support the health and safety of the pupil in all indoor and outdoor areas of the schoolGeneral Support
To work as part of the Senior Department to ensure learning opportunities support the well-being and personal development of the pupil
To assist the Teacher preparing and adapting resources and activities
To assist their Teachers in record keeping/observation notes about the pupil for reports to the Head of Learning Development (SENCO), parents or outside agencies.
To provide feedback to their Teacher, Head of Learning Development (SENCO) and relevant outside agencies about the pupil’s difficulties and/or progress
Establish and maintain positive home-school linksGeneral Duties
Attend staff meetings and Inset at the beginning of terms, other occasional meetings as deemed appropriate by the Head, including parent consultations where appropriate
Contribute to the overall life of the school through attendance at school events and general commitment to the aims and ethos of the school
Undertake any additional tasks as required by the HeadThe ideal candidate will have some or all of the following:
Experience working with children with ADHD and social communication difficulties (preferable)
Experience of working with UKS2 primary-school aged children, or LKS3
An understanding of the difficulties faced by a pupil who has special educational needs
An ability to relate to staff and parents
A flexible approach to work
To have a warm, consistent and caring approach towards child development in order to promote inclusivity
