Role Overview: As the Art Teacher and HOD for Art, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the artistic vision and curriculum within the school. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality art education to students while also overseeing the development and implementation of the art curriculum. Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility and proficiency in teaching some Design Technology (DT) classes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and innovative art lessons to students across various year groups.
  • Lead and manage the art department, ensuring a cohesive and comprehensive art curriculum.
  • Foster a creative and supportive learning environment that encourages student expression and artistic growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate art education with other subjects and school activities.
  • Teach some Design Technology (DT) classes as required, demonstrating adaptability and a broad skill set.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Organise and participate in extracurricular art activities, exhibitions, and school events.
  • Maintain a well-organised and resource-rich art classroom and studio.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialisation in Art.
  • Proven experience as an Art Teacher in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for art education.
  • Ability and flexibility to teach some Design Technology (DT) classes.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational best practices.
