What the school offers its staff

The Academy

Shireland CBSO Academy is an exciting new school that opened to Year 7 in September 2023 and is the first state school in the country to have a partnership with a professional orchestra. Based in Providence Place, West Bromwich, the Academy will work in partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) and serve all of Sandwell and the wider West Midlands. The Academy is for all students who have a passion or talent for music – they do not necessarily need to already play an instrument. From September 2024, we will have students in years 7, 8 and 12.

Shireland CBSO Academy is part of the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, providing staff with opportunities to progress both within the school, and across the Trust.
