Matron/Senior Nurse

Paediatric Community, Disability, Complex Care Jessie May

Band 8A

30hrs per week/ 0.8 WTE

This is your opportunity to join us on our journey and become a part of our talented and passionate Senior Nursing Team.

We are looking for a dynamic senior nurse who can multi-task, make high level decisions and demonstrate excellent people skills. Due to career progression an exciting opportunity has arisen for this substantive post within the Senior Nurse Team at BRHC, covering Paediatric Disability, Complex Care Services, Children’s Community Nursing team and Jessie May hospice at home. The role will include the oversight and ongoing service development of activity within these services and line management of some of our Clinical Nurse Specialist teams as well as specific link matron roles and becoming part of the duty matron rota. The successful candidate will have proven effective leadership and management skills and the ability to work under pressure. There is a high level of autonomy required, whilst also working with the multidisciplinary teams and colleagues within the hospital and feeding into wider networks across the Southwest and beyond. The post holder will also work closely with the divisional triumvirate and the divisional management team.

The ideal candidate for the role will:
• Have significant experience in problem solving, using their initiative & providing a clear vision for the services they lead.
• Have the ability to proactively lead & problem solve to resolution.
• A prompt & clear decision maker.
• Be an experienced communicator & work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

This post provides strong leadership, visible, credible, senior nursing presence accessible to staff, patients and their families for advice, assistance and support. The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of optimum quality patient care in their area/s of responsibility, and in line with the ten key matron responsibilities outlined nationally.

As Matron the post holder is expected to ensure that the services provided are responsive to patient needs, that the planning of services involves patients and users, and reflects the diverse population served. There is an expectation that the post holder will work closely with Matrons, Head of Nursing and ADM colleagues within the division and across divisional and Trust boundaries in the interest of patient care.
