Summary

Main Duties and Responsibilities Leadership of Large-Scale Transformation Programmes and Team Change Portfolio: Design the transformation blueprint providing the strategic and comprehensive plan which outlines the key elements, goals, and steps required to achieve a significant organisational/service transformation. Select and apply the most appropriate design or improvement methodology for addressing complex improvement challenges in a complex transformation context. Support and mentor others in navigating and selecting the most effective approach in addressing complex challenges. Design and facilitate workshops/design sessions with stakeholders and team members to generate and assess innovative solutions. Develop, plan, and lead the implementation of large-scale transformation programmes, aligning initiatives with organisational objectives and system priorities. Ensuring interdependencies are identified and managed, impact measures/benefits, resources, timescales, risk, issues, and assumptions. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure a unified approach to transformation, fostering engagement and commitment across the organisation and system partners. Produce highly complex and comprehensive updates regarding delivery, progress, risks, issues, and decisions required presenting these to senior and executive forums as appropriate and choosing different methods to communicate this information. Identify, collaborate, and work with internal teams and partners to source resource required to deliver the programme/s. Identify, plan, and ensure analysis of highly complex data and intelligence to inform the design and delivery of the programme/s including advising and collaborating with data scientists on modelling analysis required. Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information to senior managers, clinical and operational staff and external agencies/partners. Requiring high level skills in negotiation, persuasion, motivation, and reassurance. Represent the Trust at senior system transformation forums and meetings, engaging, participating in transformation initiatives, representing and advocating for the Trusts portfolio of services and supporting the delivery of system wide improvements to local healthcare services Team Leadership and Work Portfolio: Provide assurance to senior leaders on the performance and progress in individual programmes and projects, development of improvement capabilities and successful delivery of significant changes. Inspire and lead a team of improvement and transformation professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the team successfully coach, support and lead improvement initiatives which have a measurable impact on our processes, pathways, and services we provide. Advising and coaching the team on complex redesign issues and programmes, using extensive improvement science experience, skills and knowledge. Oversee the teams portfolio of work from initiation to evaluation, ensuring co-production with our service users, patients, carers and local communities is at the centre, impact of changes are consistently measured and the outcome of the work is widely shared. Implement strategies for team development, ensuring a motivated and cohesive group capable of designing and delivering successful improvement/transformation support/leadership. Foster an environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement within the team. Specialist Expertise as Lead Expert: Act as the lead expert and advisor on redesign and improvement science. Leverage advanced subject matter expertise in improvement science, change management, and programme management to offer guidance to senior leaders on strategic improvement and transformation goals, challenges, and opportunities. Stay current on the latest advancements in healthcare improvement, incorporating innovative technologies and methodologies into improvement plans and strategies. Advancement of Improvement Approach: Continuously evaluate and enhance improvement approaches and techniques adapting to the organisations evolving needs. Ensuring that changes are measured and evaluated, leading to meaningful and impactful improvements. Actively contribute to the progression of improvement science within the organisation and the wider healthcare community. Ensure continual advancement in communication and engagement strategy and approach across improvement and transformation efforts. Share the purpose, details, implementation, and impact of changes, involving stakeholders as partners from the outset, and showcasing the results of improvement work. Drive Continuous Quality Improvement Culture and Capability: Support the Assistant Director with the development of strategic improvement and transformation plans, ensuring alignment to integrated care system and national agendas. Support the delivery of CCSs QI framework and approach, including the continual development of existing approaches and the creation of new ways to increase improvement capabilities of the organisation and supporting the embedding of a continuous improvement culture. This includes providing strategic leadership to ensure alignment with organisational goals, mobilising resources, and actively engaging with stakeholders to drive the successful realisation of the QI framework Communication Develop and maintain strong networks and senior partnerships to support the delivery of successful transformation programmes and organisational improvement capability. Identify and lead stakeholder engagement for areas with significant service change, establishing groups and forums to develop and implement the required changes ensuring a genuinely co-produced approach is employed. Present both verbal and in written format updates/business cases/reports to senior/executive groups and large workforce groups on transformations planned and underway. Demonstrating excellent communication skills, ability to influence and persuasive skills. Facilitate multi-agency workshops, designing and delivering sessions to foster collaboration, achieve objectives, and demonstrate the ability to influence, motivate, and manage challenging situations. Escalate and receive escalation on the improvement and transformation portfolio led/supported by the team, ensuring a responsive and collaborative approach to address challenges. Budgetary Responsibility Authorised signatory for delegated budget within the team. Oversee programme/project budgets where external funding has been obtained to deliver transformation programmes. Continually ensure effective use of resources both within the Improvement and Transformation Team and across the organisation. Ensure transformation programmes have appropriate benefit realisation management arrangements in place and the financial impact of changes is quantified. To provide guidance to senior leaders on areas of opportunity for cost improvement initiatives. People Management To deputise for the Assistant Director of Improvement and Transformation as and when required. Overall responsibility for the improvement and transformation specialist section of the department (approx. 10 plus colleagues), with direct line management responsibility for Improvement and Transformation Leads, QI Lead Coach and other colleagues as appropriately aligned. Responsible for direct or delegating responsibility of recruitment, team development and allocating team resource to the priorities of the organisation. Maintaining own professional development and requirement to take part in appraisal and KSF process.
