Summary

We are looking for three School Managers to join UWE Bristol, each joining one of our ten academic schools, working closely with the Dean and School Executive, and providing support to our students and programme teams. This is an exciting role with significant opportunities to develop leadership skills and shape the delivery of key services in a future-focused university that is committed to providing an outstanding educational experience for all our students.

About these roles

The School Managers work collaboratively with academic and professional service teams supporting the student journey, helping students achieve success in their studies. The successful candidates will contribute to Service and School-wide strategic planning, fostering a collaborative working environment that continues to enhance the performance of our portfolio and student experience.

One role is permanent, one a fixed term contract for a maternity cover, initially to September 2025 (or early return of the postholder) and the other fixed term role will end April 2026. Please indicate which roles you are interested in being considered for on your application. These posts are full-time working 37 hours per week, and mainly campus based. These posts are likely to be based on our lively Frenchay and Glenside campuses where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed.

About you
You are an experienced manager with a track record of leading teams to provide high quality, agile, customer-focused services. You combine expertise, knowledge and understanding of best practice in the design and delivery of administrative functions across the student journey, with a commitment to promoting innovation and continuous improvement of services.

Energetic and resilient, you enjoy working at pace and are comfortable with complexity and uncertainty. You have excellent communication and influencing skills and establish credibility quickly with staff at all levels. You are passionate about higher education and inspire your teams individually and collectively to deliver the best possible support for students.

About Student and Academic Services

From the first point of registration to graduation and beyond, our team of over 250 professional staff is committed to enhancing the student experience and ensuring that every student is able to make the most of the extensive opportunities available throughout their journey. This is enabled by working closely with all areas of the University, the Students’ Union and a wide range of external stakeholders.
