About the role

It's the Relief Engineering Manager's overall responsibility to support the business during all planned and unplanned absences of the local Engineering Managers across Glasgow. Their duties are to manage the engineering workshop activities, whilst maintaining fleet availability requirements and the highest level of vehicle reliability, to ensure our customers are provided with a top-notch service. The role also entails offering leadership, fostering development, and motivating the staff within the engineering function, whilst skilfully managing the workforce alongside supervisory teams and ensuring a safe working environment for all. During periods out with direct support to the depots, this role will complete data analysis with the objective to drive down costs and improve service delivery.

About you

-A minimum Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent in mechanical engineering

-Fully conversant with the safe operation of workshop equipment

-Proven knowledge of relevant legislations concerning HS&E, maintenance of HGV or PSVs, Road Safety etc.

-Necessary IT and Computer skills such as SAP, MS Office etc.

-Working knowledge of DVSA Legislations and Categorisation of Defects

-Proven leadership skills are essential to provide strategic and day to day direction to your team.

-Budgetary and financial experience is essential

-Capacity to manage and commute between multi-site operations, providing cover when required.
