Senior Engineer – Linear Infrastructure Projects Would you like to join one of the UK's Best Big Companies as awarded by Best Companies? Murphy are currently recruiting for a Senior Pipeline Engineer to join our award-winning team. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Senior Pipeline Engineer will provide safe, practical, and economic designs for internal clients to a high standard of professional competence and in compliance with Company procedures. Murphy Applied Engineering is a multidisciplinary function, implementing the 'Better Engineered' judicious driver to achieve smart, safe, and constructible solutions with project timeframes. Covering a range of industry sectors including water, energy, and power; Murphy Applied Engineering provides specialist engineering support in the following disciplines: Mechanical, Geotechnical, Process, Surveying and both Permanent and Temporary works within Civil and Structural infrastructure. What you will be doing
- Constructability assessments associated with linear infrastructure projects
- Support clients through the planning application process
- Pipeline installation engineering associated with linear infrastructure projects,
- Detailed design of transmission pipelines to industry and regulator standards
- Pre-FEED and FEED studies associated with major pipeline/power cable infrastructure projects in the UK,
- Pipeline routing design in coordination with the geospatial team
- Lead design risk assessments
- Authoring, checking and approving of technical design reports,
- Project reporting and coordination of design activities within the engineering team
- Represent the design department, when necessary, at internal and external meetings
- Liaise with other departments and project teams within the company with respect to design requirements,
- Undertake site visits when required,
- Accurate recording of time spent on projects and management of team workloads,
- Collate feedback on designs as required,
- Coach and mentor individual staff members with professional development,
- Support the bid teams with technical input into tender submissions & develop design estimates for inclusion in the overall submission
Who we are looking for:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
- Chartered with a professional institution regulated by the Engineering Council (or working towards Chartership)
- Experience undertaking Pre-FEED, FEED & detailed design associated with major linear infrastructure projects in the UK as part of the governments net zero targets for 2050. This includes steel transmission pipelines and plastic ducts for subsequent power cable installation,
- Knowledge of UK planning application process under a Development Consent Order (DCO)
- Knowledge and understanding of construction plant & equipment used to install steel pipelines and plastic cable ducts,
- Familiar with geospatial analysis software such as ArcGIS or QGIS
- Excellent technical report writing skills,
- Design experience associated with trenchless crossing techniques preferred but not essential.
- Experience of consent requirements associated with rail, road and watercourse crossings is preferred but not essential,
- Some awareness and understanding of environmental restrictions in the UK.
