Summary


The post holder will work under both direct and indirect supervision on the wards and in the departments of The Royal Oldham, Fairfield General, Rochdale Infirmary Hospitals that use Point of Care devices, and in the Pathology laboratories.

They will be proficient in the use of these devices, oversee their operation in the clinical area, ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures are followed, Quality Control and Quality Assurance is performed, training and assessing users as appropriate.
• The Post holder will be proficient in the use of the Point of Care devices currently used within the Trust e.g. Blood Gas Analysers, Glucose Monitors, Pregnancy testing strips, urine dip tests etc.
• They will monitor users of these devices following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) devised in conjunction with the Point of Care Co-ordinator, advising them of any of non-compliance.
• They will assist the Point of Care team to implement a Quality Assurance (QA) scheme for all devices and /or users of these devices.
