We are looking for a part-time market attendant to work at Chesterfield’s Open Market.

The successful candidate will need to be able to lift and carry heavy loads safely, be flexible in their availability, be pro-active and efficient in their approach to work, and have a good understanding of the Health & Safety requirements to ensure you work in a safe manner at all times. You will also be required to maintain good relationships with traders and shoppers.

Duties include setting out stalls for each market day, pushing out trader storage, cleaning of the market area and managing waste generated on the Market, repairing damaged stalls, boards and trestles, and liaising with traders.

The Market operates on Monday’s, Thursday’s, Friday’s, Saturday’s, and most Sunday’s, as such shift work is involved. Shifts will vary over a week from Monday to Sunday, with early starts and late afternoons required to be covered, most shifts are split morning and evening. Bank Holiday working is occasionally required, along with providing support at any of our event markets. You may be required to work at other council sites. Initially this will be a 12-month fixed term contract.
