Summary
Detailed job description and main responsibilities To provide Consultant Urology services at the University Hospitals of Leicester, with a focus on core urology, daycase surgery and the surgical management of BPH. We have a well-established high volume urology daycase programme along with dedicated clinics to manage patients with core Urology concerns and BPH. There are a number of experienced surgeons in the department and the new appointee will be well supported To ensure the provision of good standards of practice and care, as prescribed in GMC Guidance Duties of a Doctor, at all times; and ensuring that bad practice is reported, as appropriate. To ensure that clinical practice is both effective and efficient and that appropriate monitoring of clinical care takes place. To co-operate in ensuring that services deliver national targets and the local agenda and that the contract is achieved within budget. The Consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of the patients in their charge and for the proper organisation and functioning of their clinical practice. To achieve this, the post holder will liaise closely with other specialties, departments and outside agencies in contributing to the objectives of the department, CMG & Trust. To take responsibility for ensuring that critical clinical incidents, as defined in the Trusts Critical Incident Policy, are reported either to the Head of Service or Clinical Director or the Medical Director in a timely manner.
