Part-time Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m a lady in my mid 80’s living in the Penarth area. I spend most of my days at home, but I do like to go out into the community. I like going to Barry Island & Penarth Pier. I have limited mobility, but I have a wheelchair I use. I used to enjoy reading, but I am unable to do this now as I registered partially blind.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I am looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support me in the home with personal care & with accessing the community.

HOURS OF WORK

13.5 hours per week

7 x 1 hour in the morning for day preparation

3 hours for social interaction (shopping or social activity) during weekdays

7 x 30 minutes bed preparation

Job Share would be considered

RATES OF PAY

£12.80 per hour

Double time on bank holidays

TASKS INVOLVED

· Personal care (showering & dressing)

· Supervising of my mobility and transfers

· Meal preparation

· Supervising me out in the community

· Go to the sea front

· Shopping & social activities

· Suggest things for us to do

· Provide me with company

· Ensure I am safe and comfortable at all times

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

· PA(s) to have similar interests and a mature outlook

· PA(s) to be sociable, friendly and confident

· Someone who will make me feel comfortable

· PA to be car driver/owner with business class insurance - your car will need to be able to fit my wheelchair

· Female required due to personal care

· Flexibility is an important aspect of this job

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
