Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Mechanical & Electrical Technician to work for the SSPS (Small Sewage Pumping Station) Team. Working within the Home County and Thames Valley Regions.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the maintenance of or Pumping Assets in the field, across the West of the Thames Water region. As the front-line technician, your responsibility will be to ensure you will maintain our Pumping Assets for our customers, 365 days a year.

You will work as part of an established and high-performing field team who have a direct impact on Thames Water’s performance in several key areas. The role encompasses a wide-ranging remit, making each day different from the last and posing a unique challenge.

In this role you will be based out of Maple Lodge, However, the Ideal candidate will have a base location of Reading, Swindon, Banbury or Oxford as this mobile role will be covering the home counties and Thames Valley area.
PPE, Tools and a Van will be provided.

What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical and Electrical Technician

- Carry out routine planned preventative and reactive maintenance of Small Sewage Pumping Stations (SSPS).
- Carry out electrical or mechanical installation work at Properties and sites at which our Pumping stations are located.
- Troubleshooting electrical mechanical fault finding.
- Reporting on the condition of our Pumping Stations and identifying the risks to our assets on site.
- Provide specialist technical advice where appropriate with up-to-date technical knowledge and provide training support for technical trainees.
- Liaising with external Customers and Contractors.
- Demonstrate adherence to Health and Safety policies.
- Fit to carry out lifting of manhole lids in some difficult-to-access positions and work within Confined Spaces.
- Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to interact with the team.

Base Location - Maple Lodge - Rickmansworth - WD3 9SQ.

36 hours per week Monday-Friday.7:30 am -3:36 pm plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional Payment.

All PPE, Tools plus the provision of a Van when on duty and call.

What you should bring to the role

- You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems working in a “true multi-skilled” capacity. Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering with an upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ2/3 is crucial.
- 18TH Edition.
- Ideally you will have been upskilled with a mechanical qualification to allow inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosing, testing, installing, modifying or repairing mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- For individuals with mechanical or electrical experience only, we will look to develop the right people to dual skilled status.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
- The work will require physical fitness; as you will work in restricted spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
- A valid driving licence is essential and all necessary equipment such as vehicles and tools are provided.
