Summary
Job purpose
The range of work will include Drainage, Kerbing , Hard/soft landscaping, Surfacing - Asphalt & Concrete.
Location
Work location will vary between Cambridge, Essex and Suffolk.
Principal Accountabilities
Undertake highways maintenance work using a range of tools and equipment, including powered hand tools, minor plant and machinery.
Ensure all minor construction work is completed in accordance with the required specification and standards.
Assess the correct approach to carry out tasks in a safe and effective manner, erect and remove appropriate safety signs and barriers in accordance with the Code of Practice, Health and Safety and other relevant legislation.
Use all materials in accordance with safe working practices, including manual handling and the COSHH regulations.
Wear the uniform/PPE provided at all times to ensure personal safety and to promote the partnership.
Reschedule work disrupted due to unforeseen circumstances, such as access, underground cables and inclement weather.
Maintain good working relationships with the general public and clients.
Maintain a good working relationship with colleagues to promote the service and enhance and improve service delivery.
Operate vehicles, plant and equipment strictly in accordance with safe working method statements.
Carry out vehicle checks and routine maintenance (for example oil and water checks) and cleaning in accordance with agreed procedures.
Complete accurate work record sheets in accordance with agreed administration procedures.
React positively and pro-actively to resolve unforeseen issues such as equipment breakdown, unavailability of plant, equipment and materials.
Complete all jobs within set performance targets and arrange work schedules to meet deadline completion dates.
You will be required to attend training as set out by the Manager and obtain qualifications in order to fulfil the job specification if not already obtained.
To work weekends/bank holidays when requested by your line manager to meet Service need.

Qualifications
Current Driving Licence.
CSCS
Plant tickets where necessary
Streetworks
SSSTS/SMSTS (Desirable)
Experience
Working within the Highway
Experience in setting up TM
Experience in the safe use of Highway maintenance tools, equipment and plant.
Experience of operations which involve lifting, manual handling and working in constrained situations.
Skills and Knowledge
Good communication skills with ability to deal effectively with members of public
Working knowledge of Traffic Management and Safety at Roadworks (Chapter 8) (Desirable)
Highly motivated and organised
Enthusiastic with a positive outlook
Able to work effectively as part of a team/with colleagues
