Summary
Cover Supervisor required for 1st September 2024 or as soon as possible afterwards.
Do you want to motivate and inspire students to achieve great results? Are you enthusiastic and committed? If so, we have an exciting opportunity to join our vibrant academy with a supportive staff team as a Cover Supervisor. Great Western Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the -art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018 and now accommodates over 900 students in years 7 to 11 and the Sixth Form. The results of our first three A-level cohorts in summer 2021, 2022 and 2023 were excellent and enabled 98% university applicants to take up their offers, including three to Oxford and Cambridge; students have also secured prestigious apprenticeships with companies such as Airbus and Rolls Royce. Our first GCSE results in summer 2023 showed that the progress made by the large majority of our first cohort of year 11 students has been excellent, particularly in English and Maths. This includes students of all abilities.
This role will involve covering lessons across the school when staff are absent. Additionally, there will be the opportunity to support students in lessons when no cover is required. The role would suit anyone who can show a passion for encouraging students to learn and could also serve as excellent experience for someone wanting to train to be a teacher in the future.
Part-time hours considered. Preferably 3 or more whole days a week.
Salary £20,598 for full-time (32.5hrs). This is point 1 on the unqualified teacher scale; applicants with suitable experience may be eligible to start at a higher point. The top of the unqualified teacher scale is £32,172.
Additional benefits of working at GWA include:
• Average class sizes of 26 in years 7 to 11
• Excellent CPD programme
• State of the art facilities
• Leading edge ICT, including a laptop provided for all staff and pupils
• Easy access to the A419 with free parking on site
• Medical and Wellbeing Support Service
• Flexible working opportunities
• Cycle to work Scheme through Cyclescheme
• Access to EV charging on site. Electric vehicle Salary Sacrifice Scheme
Further details are available on the Academy website and in the information documents attached.
Applications should be submitted electronically to the recruitment email by 9.00am on Monday 1st July 2024, however we will review applications as they come in and may close this vacancy early, so please don’t delay your application. Interviews will be conducted soon after.
