Summary

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic B5 Speech and Language Therapists to join our children's SLT team in the City team .

The post is in the Derby city team and based at Coleman Street Health centre .

We would welcome applications from experienced and newly qualified SLTs.

There is dedicated support from a Speech and Language Therapist , experienced in coaching and developing Speech and Language Therapists at the start of their career. Our Band 5s believe this support is invaluable and gives them the best start to working in the NHS.

You will be part of a team providing a clinical service to children and young people with communication/eating/drinking/swallowing difficulties in a variety of settings, including education settings, nurseries, clinics and clients’ homes.

What our colleagues say about working in DCHS SLT :

"I love the varied caseload, support from colleagues, team working with assistants & practitioners, strong leadership in the service, and good relationships with educational settings"

" The service has great flexible working opportunities"

" There is lots of support available from specialists, approachable team members and good internal/external training opportunities"

"We have regular support on Microsoft teams chats and virtual meetings, as well as time to meet face-to-face at the office. There is a dedicated mentor for new Band 5 SLTs and a Band 5 peer support network"

We mainly work in local educational settings, using a collaborative approach to support families and keyworkers to understand their children's needs and how best to support them.

This involves direct assessment, as well as providing programmes and implementing environmental strategies.

We are a welcoming and caring team with excellent support structures in place for all colleagues.

Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.

We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people’s own homes and via virtual consultations.
