Summary
Responsible to: Facilities Manager
Responsible for: To carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks to a
high standard.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Technician - Painter - to join the Building/Fabric maintenance team. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a full range of routine maintenance works ensuring compliance with safety standards and procedures.
Main duties will include:
-To carry out routine repair, painting and decorating reactive maintenance tasks
-Cleaning and painting of plantrooms and workshops where required
-To undertake minor maintenance works as requested
-To work as part of a departmental team and where necessary support colleagues of all levels and disciplines as required
-Carry out planned preventative (PPM) work including checking, test and information gathering if required
-To keep up to date with current legislation and attend training courses as directed by Facilities Management
-To be able to work safely in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, current guidance and to follow any other safety policies
-Be prepared to work in confined spaces, work at heights and have the ability to use building tools to undertake training as necessary
-To inspect, monitor, record and maintain the internal and external fabric the buildings
-To carry out weekly audit checks and inspections where required
Education & Qualifications:
A good standard of education, including English and Maths
City & Guild Level 2 Painting & Decorating
Knowledge & Experience:
A sound understanding of H&S Regulations relative to the role
Previous estates/facilities experience would be an advantage but not a necessity
A willingness to learn new skills, complete training and contribute ideas
Undertaking a range of maintenance related repairs and improvements
Working in a customer-facing environment
Good working knowledge of ICT and Microsoft skills

Ability to identify work priorities, whilst ensuring that lower priority work is kept up to date
Ability to plan ahead
Ability to act on own initiative, dealing with any unexpected problems that arise
Ability to demonstrate good interpersonal skills to communicate with a range of clients, both internal and external
