Summary
The Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for someone to lead on the development of an Arts Strategy that will engage and assist staff and patients.
The hospital and other Trust properties have some great spaces that could be used creatively to benefit all service users, and this role will assist the Trust with unlocking this potential.
The role will be responsible for developing a strategy for promoting and engaging with ‘the arts’ throughout Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The strategy will be for the benefit of patients and staff welfare.
The successful post holder will be able to work with all staff and patients across the organisation to develop the strategy. They will have experience and knowledge of delivering an Arts programme including securing funding from internal and external sources.

1. The post holder will develop a Trust wide arts strategy including evaluation tools that will form a framework for supporting patients and staff wellbeing and bidding for external funding.
2. The post holder will write the necessary policies and procedures to allow art to flourish and become more relevant to all Trust stakeholders.
3. The post holder will ensure that hospital’s own artwork, and loan collections are maintained and funding is identified.
4. To work with the Charity’s fundraising team to develop approaches to attract funds for participatory programmes for children, young people and adult patients Trust wide.
5. To manage the arts schedule and movement of art work across the site, liaise with artists, ensure that external contractors comply with Trust standards.
6. Working with our PFI providers to ensure that art is displayed appropriately.
7. To deliver, manage and champion the integration of art into the Trust Capital Projects, to help achieve environments that incorporate art works and new design where appropriate.
8. To manage the auditing of the art collection.
9. To manage, edit and produce content for the intra and internet to ensure it is up-to-date and relevant to patients, staff and external partners.
10. To liaise with the Charity’s fund raising team to assist with securing charitable funds for participatory arts programmes.
11. To work independently to gather and manipulate complex data to provide monthly reports as required.
12. To convene and Chair regular meetings of the Hospitals Arts Committee, ensuring members receive project updates.
13. To ensure the Hospital Arts Committee is working collaboratively with all hospital users and fully engaging the local communities.
14. To maintain an external focus, networking with leading arts organisations and potential donors of artworks.
15. To work with other Trusts in the AHA to determine and share best practices.
16. To work alongside the lifecycle replacement team and the EfM teams to ensure that opportunities to install art are considered across the Trust – especially when easy no cost options are available.
17. To keep abreast of developments in the health and wellbeing sector and the arts.
