Summary


The SLaM Staff Counselling and Wellbeing Service is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated psychological therapist who is committed to providing evidence based interventions for SLaM employees accessing the Staff Counselling and Wellbeing Service. We welcome applications from those who have interest and experience working within staff support.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and valued service provided by SLaM for SLaM staff.

The service aims to ensure that the Staff Counselling and Wellbeing service is not only helpful for all staff, but relevant and culturally cohesive. We believe that breaking down stigma around asking for help is vital in maintaining our wellbeing.

The post-holder will work within the Staff Counselling and Wellbeing team to provide psychological assessment and evidence-based treatments for staff members experiencing depression and/or anxiety or other common mental health problems arising from, and impacting, their role within the Trust.

An understanding of work related stressors and the wider staff support offers across South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, along with a knowledge of Occupational Health, Employee Assistance and Employee Relations processes would be an advantage.

The post holder will be expected to work as an autonomous professional within registration body guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor.

The Staff Counselling and Wellbeing Service is a highly-regarded, free, discreet and confidential service for all employees of South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The service is provided by the trust for trust employees and does not use private providers.

The dynamic team consists of Counsellors, CBT therapists and a psychiatrist. We have recently developed a Post Incident Treatment Pathway in collaboration with the SLaM Staff Support Service.

The Staff Counselling and Wellbeing Service are a specialist team who hold knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting the wellbeing of staff working in all roles in SLaM.

The service is committed to reducing inequalities within the SLaM workforce and ensuring that psychological therapies provided are acceptable and accessible to the diverse communities that make up the Workforce Profile.

The post holder will work flexibly with a combination of working from home and spending time at both the Maudsley and Bethlem hospital sites.
