Summary
Summary:
To serve as a Percussionist/drummer for worship services at Watersprings Christian Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
• Attending all worship rehearsals during the identified contract days.
• Attending all Sunday worship services, and any other services outside Sunday mornings including Wednesday, Friday, Good Friday, Christmas day, and other worship events.
• Playing the drums in the church services that you are rostered for.
• Playing as part of a music band to create and sustain a dynamic worship atmosphere during services.
• Playing the drum for services at Watersprings Christian centre as requested by the director of worship or pastor.
• Serving in the Creative team and ultimately the church by using your God given musical skills.
• Commitment to working as a team and bringing a unified sound to the platform.
• Commitment to supporting the worship leader (WL) and being receptive to feedback from the WL and Director.
• Commitment to serving the congregation through your passion, faith, and expression of worship.
• Commitment to being an example in attitude and action both on and off the platform and representing our team and church well.
• Regular participation in team nights and rehearsals.
• Undertake any other duties as required which are commensurate with the role.
• Performing other duties from time to time as may be directed by the senior pastor.
• Commitment to the vision, mission, and values of our church.
Key Requirements:
• Excellent musicianship - being a good musician, having sense of dynamics, synergy and teamwork. being an ensemble musician (able to blend with a team to produce music in harmony).
• A strong sense of musical leadership - Knowing the music well, willing to assist during volunteer rehearsals.
• General group leadership in behaviour, deportment (i.e., stage etiquette), attendance and punctuality at all rehearsals and worship events.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience as a church Musician (drummer) or in similar role.
• Strong knowledge of hymns and contemporary Christian music.
• Strong knowledge of Western and African style Christian music.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
• Proficiency in playing various musical instruments.
• Previous experience as a music director.
Additional Considerations:
• An excused absence will be granted when it is requested sufficiently in advance from the director of worship or pastor.
• The director or pastor will normally excuse absence for illness or emergency, but the Vocalist must communicate promptly with the director or pastor and in advance of the desired absence. Excessive absence due to illness or other reasons will be considered in performance reviews.
• Employment may be terminated by the incumbent or the church with a 30-day notice.
Evaluation:
1. A performance review will be conducted after 90 and 180 days by the director of worship and/or pastor, with input from the various singers (team members) and the congregation.
2. Musical initiative and the musician’s vocal leadership will be important evaluation factors, as will generally attitude and spirit of helpfulness, including punctuality and attendance.
