Summary

In recent years, Student Support in Higher Education has seen rapid development. As a result, there has been a noticeable increase in institutional responsibilities and raised student expectations.

The University of Aberdeen Student Advice & Support team are seeking to recruit a new Administration Coordinator to ensure that students are supported with a range of individual requirements, and that our services evolve to meet the expanding needs and expectations of the student population. This will involve working closely with individual students, colleagues across support services and the wider University. This role is fixed term for one year, to cover a period of maternity leave within the team.

This is a varied role and the successful candidate will work to assist in supporting students across our campuses. There is daily contact with students (in person, via email, and via telephone) who come to front line services looking for advice and information on a wide range of topics and a friendly, empathetic, and reassuring manner is essential. The successful candidate must be able to adapt to working in different environments and should have experience of working in a busy office, and in frontline customer/student facing role.

Alongside the rest of the admin team, the post holder will help maintain the diaries of various staff members, through Microsoft Outlook. The successful candidate must possess excellent administrative skills, including a thorough working knowledge of Word, Outlook and Excel. It is also essential that the successful candidate is comfortable working with data and financial information, and experience in finance administration is desirable. An ability to respond to people from all backgrounds who may be in distress or crisis is essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for tasks relating to department finances, including the coordination of invoicing, payroll and ordering.

Knowledge of the University’s Student Record System and Finance system would be an advantage, although training can be provided.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 4 scale, £25,742 - £29,605 per annum, pro rata and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

This post is full time, fixed-term for up to 1 year.
