Summary
You will be at the forefront of the Commission's data strategy and management activities. You will be responsible for the technical aspects of data governance and will primarily focus on the design and implementation of robust and practical data governance solutions, to support our organisational needs, ensuring data quality, trustworthiness, and value.
You will work closely with technical teams, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to implement and maintain effective data governance practices.
You will be responsible for supporting, developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures, identifying opportunities and making recommendations to minimise data risks and increase data literacy.
You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that data quality is maintained, and that data is properly managed throughout its lifecycle.
You will establish and support wider data management competencies within the organisation (such as metadata management, master data management) to optimise the value of data throughout Commission.
You will be a vital contributor to enhancing our data-driven decisions, advocating for better use and management of data within the organisation and fostering a culture of data literacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Governance - demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of data governance theory, standard methodology and the practical considerations. Support an end-to-end data governance framework (the processes, operational policies and standards needed to support good data management). Work effectively with technical teams and other stakeholders to implement a data governance framework and make recommendations to ensure compliance.
- Data Life Cycle – responsible for the mapping of data flows and lineage and the application of data governance principles over the data life cycle, ensuring best practice at each phase. Conduct data assessments and audits to identify gaps and recommend improvements.
- Data Quality: identify and recommend improvements to enhance data quality throughout the organisation with the aim to deliver a Data Quality Framework.
- Data Standards - demonstrate an understanding of best practice data policies, processes and standards, and the ability to implement them successfully. Work effectively with the Data Governance Manager and other subject matter experts across the Business to develop the rules, policies and guidance needed to safeguard the organisation’s data assets. Work within a team to assess and provide insight as to how data policies and standards are applied and complied with, taking action where necessary.
