The successful candidate will teach across the year groups in the Senior School. The ability to teach A Level would be an advantage.

The Physical Education Department:
Our Physical Education Department is a supportive, challenging and rewarding environment, committed to the provision of high-quality school sport for all pupils.

There are currently five teachers of Physical Education including the Head of PE, as well as other colleagues who support co-curricular activities.

The Physical Education Department has an outstanding record for its extra-curricular performance and provision, rivalling local selective and ISA North private schools. The emphasis here at Abbey Gate College is on how pupils’ extra-curricular involvement in sport contributes to their overall physical and mental wellbeing and achievement, enabling individual and team excellence, as well as proving enjoyment and developing collective effort. We offer a balanced and varied programme to suit all abilities.

Fixtures are played across a variety of sports. Saturday morning fixtures in the Autumn and Spring terms are for football, rugby, netball and hockey, against local opposition at a competitive level.

The Department benefits from a variety of superb facilities, enhanced by our wonderful location on a 20-acre site in the middle of beautiful countryside. Our Sports Hall consists of four badminton courts, which adapt to indoor netball / basketball courts. Our newly built teaching pavilion includes a teaching area and a small Technogym facility within. We also have a new all-weather sand-based hockey pitch, that also allows delivery of a number of other sports. Our three grass football pitches on the lower-level field are also used as a rugby pitch and a 400m athletic track during the summer months.
