About Us:

Harley Haddow is a leading engineering consultancy committed to delivering exceptional Building Performance & Sustainability (BP&S) Services. We are seeking a dedicated BP&S Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role provides a unique opportunity to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to sustainable design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management and Delivery:
- Input to the delivery of BP&S Services Design on assigned projects.
- Maintain and improve the quality and efficiency of BP&S Services design and post-contract implementation.
- Supervise junior engineering staff and support their personal development.

Client and Team Collaboration:
- Act as the lead consultant on projects, providing BP&S representation at key stages.
- Ensure BP&S requirements are communicated and delivered within Harley Haddow.
- Represent the company at client and design team meetings.

Technical Development:
- Develop sustainable solutions to meet the energy demands of buildings.
- Perform calculations including heat loss, overheating, ventilation, energy analysis, and CFD analysis using IES software.
- Develop environmental strategies and energy solutions for buildings.
- Undertake BREEAM/WELL/NABERS assessments.

Design and Reporting:
- Develop BP&S strategies and Concept Designs as part of the RIBA Stage 1, 2 & 3 Design Process.
- Complete SBEM/SAP and EPC calculations.
- Prepare scheme design reporting and calculations from concept to detailed design.
- Plan and programme BP&S services design process and ensure quality output.

Software Proficiency:
- Utilise and develop understanding of necessary design software, including IES, Bluebeam, Hevacomp, SAP – Stroma, One Click LCA, and BREEAM Projects.
- Develop the abilities of Assistant and Apprentice Engineers in using software packages.

Post-Contract Implementation:
- Represent Harley Haddow at meetings.
- Complete and sign off SBEM/SAP and EPC calculations.
- Conduct energy audits and surveys for as-built EPCs and Section 63 Audits.

Performance Expectations:

Work Profile:
- Scheme design project work: 45%
- Detailed design project work: 25%
- Post-contract duties/meetings: 15%
- Learning and development: 5%
- General office duties: 5%
- QA duties: 5%

Qualifications and Experience:

- Degree qualified and ideally working towards chartered status.
- IES Level 5/Low Carbon Energy Assessor.
- Proven track record in project management, delivery, and quality.
- Strong people skills with demonstrable client-facing and man-management abilities.
- Capable of working with own initiative to provide solutions to engineering and management challenges.
- Valid UK Driving Licence (preferable).
- Willingness to travel for meetings and projects, with occasional overnight stays.
