Housing Services

Permanent, 37 hours per week

We have an opportunity for a individual to join our Housing Solutions Team in the role of Triage and Accommodation Officer.

The Triage and Accommodation Officers will be the first point of contact for customers providing a proactive service giving front line advice and assistance to anyone seeking housing assistance in accordance with current legislation and codes of guidance.

The role will undertake initial assessments to identify customers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness as well as assisting in the co-ordination and management of our temporary accommodation.

Good knowledge of current housing issues and legislation, particularly in relation to housing needs and homeless prevention is essential along with effective interpersonal skills both written and verbal, including being able to relate to vulnerable people in a tactful and sensitive manner.

Bassetlaw is an attractive place to live and work. It includes the most northerly district of Nottinghamshire; bordering Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire with two main population centres - Retford and Worksop, each surrounded by a network of picturesque villages. All of our three offices in Worksop, Retford and Carlton Forest are easily accessible from the M1 and A1.

We are also committed to recruiting and developing talented individuals to enhance our reputation as a forward thinking, can-do Council. We will value your contributions, give you access to a free healthcare cash plan and benefits, offer a very generous 26-32 days holiday package (rising incrementally each year) plus public/bank holidays, and give you the option to purchase additional annual leave tax-free. We will double your monthly pension contributions and provide the option to join our shared cost AVC scheme, offer discounted car parking of around £4 per month, and family friendly policies. All new employees will be able to choose a welcome gift from the following options; 4 months free BPL gym membership, 1 year National Trust membership and many more options. We also offer hybrid working arrangements of partial home/office working.

We value the diversity of our people and actively encourage applications from all sections of the community. We maintain fair and well thought out recruitment processes at every stage to make sure that everyone is treated equally.
