The role

This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Criminal Justice and Custody Department as an Immediate Justice Investigator.

You will provide support to the TREAD Sergeant and officers, identifying opportunities to refer to the Immediate Justice Pathway and developing existing crimes and referrals to TREAD to allow referral to Immediate Justice. Through the promotion and implementation of the use of Out of Court Resolutions – Immediate Justice, you will divert offenders away from the Criminal Justice System for cases of low-level ASB offending, with the aim to reduce reoffending.

What you’ll do

You will work within a small team, reviewing crimes, the nature of the offence, specific circumstances and criminal history and offender needs/attitudes to assess suitability for Out of Court Resolution – Immediate
Promoting the use of Immediate Justice and other Out of Court Resolutions, you will increase their use, making offenders take responsibility for their actions consequently promoting confidence amongst victims, witnesses and wider communities.
Ensure that victims are given a voice, enabling them to share what happened and their views for the offender’s consideration.
You will travel across the force area, conducting investigative enquiries, liaising with victims and witnessed and engaging with offenders. This will include obtaining witness statements and completing suspect interviews.
Identify appropriate interventions to address specific needs such as substance misuse, accommodation finances, education/employment, health and thinking and behaviour.
Prepare and deliver briefings, written or in person, as and when required, to inform key stakeholders of progress made following the creation of the OOCD Hub.

What you’ll bring

PIP1 Qualified, good understanding of OOCR and the OOCR guidance.
Able to work in a team, demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support when required whilst developing effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders.
Able to make decisions and problem solve whilst remaining calm and composed. You will act with discretion and emotional intelligence to manage conflict and difficult situations.
Strong communication skills, able to communicate effectively with different people/audiences. This will include verbal and written communication.
Able to manage your own workload, prioritising and managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously whilst being able to maintain professional standards and offering a
Experience of using standard IT packages and MS office including word, excel and TEAMS to input, update and retrieve system information.
