To deliver those services takes an enthusiastic and customer focused team
- and right now we are looking to recruit for an Assistant Accountant to join our management accounting team and play a key role in supporting the production of timely and accurate financial and management information across a portfolio of contracts to the Leisure Senior Team.

As the Assistant Accountant, you will act as a trusted point of contact for business leaders, transforming financial and non-financial information into insight which influences decision making to improve financial performance of Serco services.


Your main responsibilities:

- Production of monthly accounts, complete for Management Accountant to review
- Attend and contribute to monthly accounts reviews with Contract Managers – investigate & resolve any queries raised
- Prepare balance reconciliations, investigate, and resolve any issues, for monthly review by Management Accountant
- Attend & contribute to quarterly balance sheet reviews with Contract Managers
- Complete VAT returns for required sites
- Collate required information for contract audits and support Management Account in resolving queries
- Create strong working relationships with relevant contract managers & site admin staff to improve & maintain quality & efficiency of information received



What you’ll need to do the role:

- Ideally you will be working as an Assistant Accountant or similar, working towards a professional qualification with a recognised accounting body along with relevant experience in finance teams.
- Track record of collaborating with business leaders in a complex business environment.
- Evidence of ability to influence, negotiate, listen to and resolve conflicts with key decision makers.
- Strong commercial acumen, as well as demonstrable experience of understanding relationships between key financial and non-financial business value drivers.
- Experience of interpreting and dealing with incomplete data; and the capability to exercise judgement where there is ambiguity
- Evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience of having worked successfully in a virtual team.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within the UK
