Summary
An opportunity has arisen to join our well established team.
The post holder will be an integral part of the Fetal Medicine unit and work alongside the team to support the safe running of the fetal medicine clinic and to coordinate care pathways alongside the multidisciplinary team. They will act as Deputy Fetal medicine lead midwife in their absence.
• To support womenreferred to Fetal Medicine throughout their antenatal journey.
• To support junior midwifery, medical and support staff in caring for families throughout the service.
• Work autonomously and with the Multidisciplinary team to deliver high standards of individualised evidence based care to women/people in pregnancy and their families.
• Promote and empower personalisation and choice of care within the remits of Fetal Medicin

·Triaging referrals to FMU for women with high risk screening results and/or previous fetal abnormality and at midwives/Drs request
·Liaise closely with ultrasound department, DAU and obstetric, Neonatal and midwifery teams re high risk pregnancies
·Review PMRT cases for Fetal Medicine patients alongside the Quality and Safety Team
·Coordinate and present Fetal Medicine cases at the weekly cross site joint Paediatric/ Fetal medicine/Genetic/Urology/Cardiology meeting in the absence of the Fetal medicine consultant
·Support comprehensive administrative systems that ensure all women are offered appropriate testing and receive results within the relevant timeframe
·Maintain system for delivering and recording results to patients.
·Maintain an excel spread sheet that will provide data on all antenatal referrals to Fetal Medicine Unit
·Be responsible for the collection, testing and documentation of specimens/results.
·Deliver high risk results to patients, offer counselling and referral as appropriate.
·Provide compassionate and non-judgemental counselling.
·Explanation of procedures and obtaining consent for procedures.
·Interpreting and explaining screening results, diagnostic results and Termination of Pregnancy (TOP) procedure.
·Breaking bad news.
·Organize TOP for patients with poor outcomes. To provide support to couples following TOP.
·Attending PACS appointments alongside the obstetric consultant and the bereavement midwives if requested
·Act as deputy for Fetal Medicine Lead Midwife
