About the employer
The employer supported by his family, is a young man with Down Syndrome, is looking for a Personal Assistant to support him in a work experience placement and on occasion for some social inclusion.
Main Duties
• The main role is to transport and support the employer at his work experience placement, which is a café in Easton on the Hill, near Stamford. The Café offers training in life skills, crafts activities, gardening and yoga sessions to young people with Downs Syndrome.
• You would be required to supervise and offer encouragement (you are not required to carry out the tasks) in all area’s this includes stock taking, washing/ironing, cooking, working towards supporting in the Café with clearing tables, taking orders, using the tills etc.
• A car driver with own car is therefore essential, mileage will be paid.
• If the Café is closed then the hours are to be used for social inclusion, i.e. Cinema, bowling, shopping etc.
• No personal care but you will need to prompt for toileting.
• Employer is a slow eater so encourage and monitor to ensure lunch has been eaten.
• Additional hours maybe available for evening social activities organised and run by Café and other day centres, to be discussed at interview.
• Any other task which the employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant.

The successful applicant will be friendly, have a good sense of humour, be kind and have patience. To build a good working relationship with the employer who is a cheeky personable young man and would embrace his love of music from Ed Sheeran to musicals to Disney.
Please note you will be directly employed by the person (or their representative) that you will be assisting. The Council is not the employer.
Sponsorship cannot be provided by individual employers. Your right to work in the UK must be confirmed already.
An enhanced DBS will be required and will be arranged and paid for by the employer.
