Summary

The Genomics Education Programme (GEP) is the national portfolio responsible for shaping education in genomics across England. The GEP is part of the Workforce, Training and Education Directorate within NHS England, which provides leadership for the education and training system. It ensures that the shape and skills of the future health and public health workforce evolve to sustain high quality outcomes for patients in the face of demographic and technological change.

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a passion for genomic education, training, and workforce development.

The post holder(s) will have ownership of the subject matter development of the GEP resources, including GeNotes and MOOC content, supporting and guiding the associated working groups. You will provide guidance around article development, particularly initially and when needed, to act in a Clinical Genetics SpR capacity in terms of creation or reviewing of GEP content.

This is a great opportunity to play a key role in this ambitious and wide-reaching educational programme, which supported the successful 100,000 Genomes Project and now the implementation of the NHS’s Genomic Medicine Service.

The postholder will work as part of a dedicated team of editorial, education development, communications, and project management professionals, and will build contacts and relationships with some of the best and brightest in the NHS and academia.

It is an exciting, challenging role that requires an enthusiastic, proactive, and highly organised individual who is keen to contribute to the success of this important programme.

In April 2023, NHS England, NHS Digital, and Health Education England merged to create a new, single organisation to lead the NHS in England. This new NHS England is designed to create a simpler, smaller, high performing, organisation that leads the NHS more effectively and is a better place to work. Speaking with one voice to the service.

The new NHS England board have set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all, which will inform the detailed design work and we will achieve this purpose by:
• Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
• Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
• Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
• Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
• Delivering value for money.
