We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Bid Manager to work at our Doncaster site.
Main Purpose of the Role
To manage the end-to-end bid process, acting as a key touch point for bids for all stakeholders. To deliver proposals and bids to
the customer base, through the management and development of high quality and compelling proposals to meet business targets for
growth and profitability.
Spread Of Skills & Analysis Required
The nature of the role is varied. Good customer and market knowledge is required to support the development of proposals.
Experience in Project Management is required for the role, alongside a demonstrable collaborative approach to stakeholder
management. An excellent knowledge of general bidding processes and procedures is required for the role, as well as a good basic
knowledge of commercial terms and conditions. Excellent bid writing skills are required for the role.
The ability to work on the basis of self-initiative is essential, as work is generally proactive. There is a requirement to use
analytical skills and judgement to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
Pressure & Working Environment
Fluctuating pressure due to peaks and troughs in workload, with periods of high pressure due to deadlines and range/amount of bids
in the process.
Directly responsible for meeting critical deadlines and exacting customer requirements to ensure business growth as well as
retaining existing customers through contract renewals. Work requires considerable concentration and a high degree of attention to
detail in dealing with and responding to complex bid requirements. A consistently high level of quality of work is required to
ensure the best chance of securing new business.
The role may involve some travel and out of hours working may occasionally be required.
Qualifications & Education
Essential: Mathematics and English to GCSE standard or equivalent
Desirable: Formal Professional Qualification such as APMP, Project Management qualification
Experience & Proven Ability Required
* Experience of managing projects and bids/proposals and delivering to exacting requirement and deadlines.
* Experience of responding successfully to formal tender exercises.
* Excellent bid writing skills.
* Demonstrable experience of working at all levels of an organization, showing empathy, assertiveness and influence.
* Experience of managing multiple internal and/or external stakeholders.
