18.5 hours per week, permanent
Salary Progression:
- Stage 1: £14,479 - £14,517 per annum, inclusive of £1,371 Distant Islands Allowance
- Stage 2: £16,254 - £17,614 per annum, inclusive of £1,371 Distant Islands Allowance
- Stage 3: £20,015 - £21,637 per annum, inclusive of £1,371 Distant Islands Allowance

The post holder will be required to initially support the work of the Outdoor Learning Manager by providing positive inclusive outdoor experiences for young people, families or adults as required and to develop towards the Outdoor Learning Manager role through agreed progression of training, experience, and qualifications by committing to engaging in and successfully achieving approved benchmarks: -

Stage 1 - Appointment to Trainee Outdoor Learning Manager post and commencement of tutor training qualifications (Grade E)

Stage 2 - Completion of NGB tutor level qualifications in at least two outdoor activities and commenced pathway to completing tutor assessments – e.g. MCI Training for mountaineering, Tutor Training for UK Cycling, Level 2 PWB and Dinghy Sailing Assistant Instructor for RYA, Sea Kayak Leader and Coach Training for Paddle Scotland. Successful completion of in-house training delivered by the Outdoor Learning Manager (Grade F)

Stage 3 – Successfully completed NGB tutor assessments in at least two outdoor activities and fulfilling all requirements of the Outdoor Learning Manager post as per Job Description (Grade H)

The Outdoor Learning Manager will manage the development and approve the progression through the stages. Rate of progression will depend on existing qualifications and successful completion of stages. Indicative timeframe is 3-4 years.

It is essential you hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to your own vehicle.

You must have knowledge of current legislation in relation to new and existing developments in outdoor learning along with knowledge of the use of outdoors as a learning environment. It is essential you have high quality communication and interpersonal skills.

You must be able to work flexibly, including evenings and weeks.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
