Job Title: Chemosensory Analyst - Synergy

Location: Southampton, UK

Salary: up to £35,000

Synergy are currently working with a world-leading Consumer goods organisation located in Southampton with a vacancy for a Chemosensory Analyst. The purpose of this role is To plan and execute all Chemosensory activities in line with best practises, ensuring excellence in execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organise and conduct Chemosensory analyses, in particular Gas Chromatography coupled to Olfactometry based on Aroma Extract Dilution Analysis (GC-O/AEDA), ensuring that a clear briefing is articulated.
  • Develop and test new working procedures/methods in line with project requirements, compiling study plans, writing SOPs and ensuring all documentation is aligned to business practices.
  • Prepare samples for Chemosensory evaluation including those for the GC-Olfactometry panel.
  • Collect analytical and sensory data, analysis and reporting.
  • Prepare and organise all laboratory tasks in an efficient and orderly way to ensure smooth running within the Chemosensory lab.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant SOP's, working practices and requirements.
  • Be responsible for planning, coordinating and facilitating GC-Olfactometry panel sessions.
  • Provide GC-Olfactometry capabilities and capacities versus the planned schedule.
  • Drive the awareness of the Chemosensory GC-Olfactometry capability and advises on the most appropriate methods to suit test objectives.

Requirements:

  • BSc or Masters, or with equivalent experience, preferably in food chemistry or life sciences.
  • Experience of working within a laboratory.
  • Experience with GC-Olfactometry, GC-MS would be desirable.
  • Computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook calendar management.
  • Recognised proficiency in laboratory techniques used to extract, separate and analyse flavour compounds in complex sample matrices.
