Summary
To be accountable for the planning and delivery of the physiotherapy service for adults with learning disability in Bexley and Greenwich. To manage referrals to physiotherapy. As the lead Physiotherapist, identify issues relating to client management and care, standardise procedures, develop local guidelines and assist in teaching and training of care staff. To act as a resource to the rest of the L.D Team and to others regarding `physiotherapy input and management of adults with learning disabilities. To be responsible for provision of highly specialised assessment, treatment and management of adults with learning disability who present with a wide variety of conditions. These include chronic, complex, disabling and life limiting conditions. To support and take part in clinical governance promoting high quality service and to ensure clinical effectiveness, evidence-based practice and outcome measures are embedded in the practice of physiotherapy in the area of L.D. To maintain a clinical caseload and demonstrate advanced skills in dealing with complex issues to generate appropriate, coordinated strategies for caseload and workload management. To write reports reflecting expert knowledge and to ensure that physiotherapy written and electronic activity data (RIO) is kept up to date in accordance with professional and Trust standards.
