City & Hackney CAMHS is seeking a motivated and experienced nurse to join our small and dedicated Paediatric Liaison Team.

The role involves providing specialist assessments and interventions for children, young people and their families attending Homerton University Hospital with both physical and mental health needs. The role also includes delivering consultation and bespoke training to paediatric and emergency medicine colleagues. The team consists of a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist one day a week and a fellow part-time Senior Nurse in Paediatric Liaison who you will be working closely with. Based in City & Hackney CAMHS, serving a richly diverse community, this friendly and innovative service aims to promote recovery and collaborative care.

The role requires previous experience of working in CAMHS or liaison teams, along with a keen interest in working across agencies and developing high quality services. A high level of clinical skill and professional autonomy is needed.

The Paediatric Liaison Team (PLT) provides mental health input for the assessment and treatment of children and families affected by physical illness difficulties, including medically unexplained physical symptoms (MUPS), at Paediatric out-patients, A&E and the Paediatric Ward at Homerton University Hospital. This post will join the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and part-time paediatric liaison nurse in providing the paediatric liaison service as well as providing a role in the interface between CAMHS services and the paediatric department in the Homerton Hospital.

The postholder will provide a specialist mental health nursing service for the PLT offering evidence-based episodes of care. They may provide clinical supervision and line management to other nurses in CAMHS including the crisis service, and will take a lead in nursing issues as required by the Nurse Lead for CAMHS.

The post holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management, and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.

To help to coordinate and manage the CAMHS Paediatric Liaison Clinic once

weekly, including triaging referrals, managing bookings & staffing,

coordinatingand completing assessments, liaison and follow up.

To develop effective working relationships in order to provide effective

consultation to hospital staff in creating effective and evidence based care

plans for young people referred to the paediatric liaison service following

assessment.

To assess and formulate at community, systemic and individual levels,

utilising theoretical knowledge as well as the analysis, interpretation and

integration of complex clinical information from a variety of sources.
