Trainee Engineer Surveyor (164jc) – Midlands Based – circa £32k to start depending on Experience + Benefits

My client who are a National Independent Engineering Inspections company who are experiencing significant growth are now seeking additional members to join their team based in the Birmingham and Peterborough areas.

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.

In this role you will be reporting to the Operations Manager and as a Trainee, you will complete an individual training program based on existing qualification and experience. You will be required to attend various external and internal training courses including practical hands-on training and an element of self-learning.

Following satisfactory completion of training and mentoring, competency assessments will be carried out and formal authorisation issued.

Therefore, your responsibilities will include:
• Ensure the Training Plan and Log (ISI-TF-002) is completed detailing items inspected with comments from the trainee and training surveyor regarding training progress.
• Submit the training plan and log to the Technical Manager, as required.
• You will be expected to travel to various locations for field training.
• Attend various internal and external training courses, appropriate to training needs.
• Working under supervision to undertake inspections of equipment in line with relevant regulations and supervision.
• Working under supervision to complete inspections using the company system via issued tablet.
• Maintain communication with your line manager & office staff using telephone and/or email.
• Remain up to date with all company policies and procedures via shared drive information.
• Maintain professional knowledge levels via relevant publications and updates relating to standards.
• Adhere to company and client safety systems and safe working practices.

To be eligible for this role you will need the following educations, skills and knowledge:
• NVQ Level 3 in an associated mechanical engineering discipline
• HND/HNC/Degree level in a mechanical engineering subject (desirable)
• Suitable experience working on relevant equipment.
• Full driving licence.
• IPAF licence (desired – although training can be given)
• Proficient with mobile tablet technology
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Word / Excel
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work remotely and use own initiative.
• Clear decision-making ability
• A professional attitude with a positive approach to your work
• Good knowledge of ISO 17020 (desirable)

In return they are offering a good starting salary, their experienced surveyors are earning in excess of £42k per year, plus a full training and development package, company pension, 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays, company vehicle and day starts when you leave your front door and finishes when you get home.
