Summary

Team Member - Action Stations, Portsmouth
Fixed term contract until 1 September 2024
Salary (Grade 1): £12.00 per hour
Various positions available ranging from 4 hours per week up to 30 hours per week. All posts will include some weekend working. Positions will involve predominantly working in our Action Stations Attraction or the Visitor Centre.
Location: National Museum of the Royal Navy Portsmouth, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

The National Museum’s vision is to be the world’s most inspiring Naval Museum, Linking Navy to Nation. Our mission is inspiring enjoyment and engagement with the continuing history and modern role of the Royal Navy and its impact on shaping both our nation and the modern world.
The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting for Team Members to join our team working in a unique heritage environment. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking for a customer facing role to deliver a first-class visitor experience.
Action Stations in Portsmouth is the home of intense action and adventure where visitors can scale an indoor climbing tower, battle it out at Laser Quest, release their inner Ninja Force, and let their little one's loose on Sky Tykes. These roles will be assisting our visitors to enjoy these ventures.
The Team Member role will be primarily working with young people so this will require the post holders to undertake Safeguarding training, which we will provide. These roles will be more physically demanding than our other Front of House roles. Potentially you will be required to react quickly to any incident across Action Stations and this may involve you having to climb equipment to aid visitors, again all training will be provided.
Ideally you will be friendly, welcoming and confident engaging with our audiences. We want every visitor to have an extraordinary and enriching experience, every time they visit. As a Team Member you’ll ‘make it happen’ whether you're welcoming visitors on arrival, serving on the tills or positioned out and about engaging within our galleries, historic ships and shops.
Key Opportunities

To join a great team working within a unique heritage environment.
Ensuring our visitors are welcomed, assisted, delighted, engaged and inspired.

Experience of working in a customer focused environment with retail and sales knowledge an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Basic knowledge of Health and Safety and Security requirements and a willingness to learn more.
The ability to communicate and engage with a wide and varied audience.

We provide:

The opportunity to be part of a friendly and diverse workplace within a unique heritage environment.
Discounts at our shops and cafes.
Discounted tickets for family and friends.
