Personal Assistant for child P/T@ £12.25/hr in Portishead - FTE - £23.9k

Apply at UKCIL.com. Reference: e089b3eb

I would like a PA to take my daughter to one of her two hydrotherapy/disability swim lessons a week. We therefore require:Hours per week on either:

  • Wednesday 4pm – 7pm
  • Thursday 3:15pm (school pick up) – 5:45pm
Ideally we would like to alternate weds/thurs each week, because that means I will still get to meet with the teachers every other week to discuss progress etc.Care and support will include, sitting with and supporting my daughter whilst she has her tea before her session, taking her to the toilet and supporting her with personal care. Driving her from Portishead, to her hydro/swim lesson in Abbots Leigh. Getting her changed for swimming and supporting her to walk to the pool on her walking sticks. On a Wednesday it is a 1:1 lesson with a teacher so they would not need to get into the water. On a Thursday the PA would also need to get into the hydrotherapy pool with Inka and support her during the session. They will then need to get her changed and drive her home. Background information

My daughter is 6 years old, she has Cerebral palsy, a vision impairment and controlled epilepsy, she also has some learning disabilities. She does not have any challenging behaviours. She can walk with a walking frame and walking sticks but also uses a wheelchair for longer distances. She needs physical support to get into and out of a car as well as to get on and off the toilet, although the PA should not need to lift her full weight I think manual handling training would be helpful and someone who is used to supporting people with physical disabilities. She is a very happy, chatty and playful child and likes to ask lots of questions! She would not have a preference between a female or male, however as there will be personal care involved a female is probably more appropriate, and obviously they would need to be DBS checked.
