Summary


Are you passionate about patient care and supporting families with cancer? We are looking for a friendly, adaptable & well organised person to join our team as a Cancer Support Advisor. Candidates should be enthusiastic, self-motivated & forward thinking with excellent communication and organisational skills. They should have good attention to detail to maintain our portfolio of information and able to multi task in sometimes challenging situations. You must be able to work independently and have an understanding of the difficulties families facing cancer may experience.

This is an interesting and challenging role, with excellent developmental opportunities, bringing the post holder in touch with a variety of departments and professionals within the Trust. The Cancer Support Service is an expanding, welcoming team, and the post holder will be working directly, and based with our cancer support advisor team as well as linking in closely with our navigator service and projects teams.

To deliver high quality information and support to the people affected by cancer (including carers), and meeting agreed service and individual performance measures

Working from the Service base in Oncology Outpatients or the wards/trust as required.

The Cancer Support Advisor is responsible for answering enquiries via the Macmillan Information Pod, by phone, Epic referrals, and email, from people or their family members, carers and friends, providing a listening ear, support and information. Enquiries can range from practical questions such as travel to financial support, to emotional conversations and help finding support closer to home.

You will research and answer questions, identify relevant information and signpost accordingly. Escalating to the Senior Cancer Support Advisor when needed.
