Summary


We are seeking a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Maternal Medicine, Risk Management and Governance

This is a combined Obstetric and Gynaecology post. The post holder will be expected to develop services within their specialised area working in close collaboration with other consultants. The successful candidate will be expected to cover labour ward on a rotational basis along with ante-natal and general gynaecology clinics, elective and emergency theatres.

As part of our continued quality improvement journey and supporting our ambitions to deliver outstanding care, we are making significant investment within our Obstetrician and Gynaecology Consultant workforce. This is an exciting time to join the Trust and help shape the maternity care which we provide for our communities and support in delivering our comprehensive maternity improvement programme. We are investing in Midwives across our services, which includes strategies for international midwifery recruitment. Our maternity services work in collaboration with King’s College London to deliver specialist Fetal Medicine services at Southend and Basildon and our Gynaecology Oncology Centre at Southend continues to build strategic and collaborative links with our tertiary network centres across the East of England.

The successful candidate will be expected to cover labour ward /gynaecology emergency on a rotational basis along with ante-natal and general gynaecology clinics.

The post holder will be expected to be actively involved in the clinical governance aspects of the directorate and the trust including risk management, complaints and SI investigations, participation in clinical trials and CNST.

The post holder will provide expert input to cases within the central delivery suite that deviate from the normal. To provide risk analysis and management plans for all cases that require specialist input.
