Summary

Hours per week: 10am – 1:00pm, Monday to Thursday (12 hours per week). 39 weeks per year (term time). Some flexibility will be required

Our experienced HSLW is moving on after 15 years and we are now seeking someone to continue the support we offer to families.
The overriding goal of our HSLW role is to work preventatively with families, children and the school to identify appropriate early interventions, signpost support and guide families - particularly in times of change and stress. This will focus on forming positive relationships with families and removing real or perceived barriers to ensure that every child achieves their potential and benefits from the whole school experience through excellent attendance. The candidate will also be someone who connects easily with people. They will be a natural advocate for diversity across our school community.
The successful candidate will:
• facilitate communication between the school and families
• support identified families with parenting skills & strategies to overcome hurdles which impact a child’s education.
• liaise with, challenge and support families around school attendance
• signpost families to external support networks.
• advocate for families and their children
• support vulnerable families and children, promoting emotional wellbeing, self- esteem & healthy living
• lead/support in-school provision for: bereavement, key stage transition, Young Carers
• participate in training to ensure professional development and competence. This may include DSL training.
• participate in the local HSLW network meetings
• work within an Equal Opportunities and anti-discriminatory framework and to be alert to and an advocate of all aspects of diversity within our school community
