Summary

I’m looking for a Personal Assistant to help me live my life in a way which keeps me happy and comfortable.

Who am I?
• I’m a 28 year old (with a 9 year older daughter).
• I have a neurodevelopment disorder that affects my executive dysfunction (organisation skills) and working memory.
• I may need your help occasionally to:
o get to and from any medical appointments
o help me prepare notes for my appointments)
o help with food shopping
It is essential for you to drive and a have a valid driver’s license.
Nature of the job:
• Sending or answering emails on my behalf, reading letters or emails out loud
• Helping me to prioritise my to do list.
• Helping me to manage realistic expectations and help to get a routine in place so I can function efficiently.
• I also need support in simple everyday tasks, such as washing dishes, hanging up wet clothes, preparing meals.
• Keeping my house clean and tidy, changing bed sheets (bunk beds), and taking out the rubbish.
• Reminding me to order all my medication and picking up prescriptions.
• Help with budgeting and paying bills on time.
• Help with keeping on top of administrative work.
Only applicants who are able and willing to provide a high level of care will be considered.

What’s important?
• I need someone who is highly organised and is good at multitasking and achieving results
• Help with maintaining a work/life balance including the ability to deep clean, batch cook food (not essential), chop/prep fruit and veg, organise shopping list.
• Schedule appointments , social outings and prompt/remind me.
• Help with DIY projects (experience not essential).

Help me help myself.
There are tasks I will need you to do for me, but there are others where I need only a little help. I’m looking for someone who doesn’t assume that I can do these things by myself. I’m a highly intelligent and educated female, this can confuse people on what I’m capable of doing. I can complete a law degree with a newborn baby but struggle to run a home efficiently.

Help me stay visible.
I’ve found that because of the challenges (poor working memory) I have, sometimes I find it hard to advocate my needs. How you interact with me and other people on my behalf matters.
Be professional and informal. This can be a challenging role and I need someone who is trustworthy, who won’t take advantage of me and my situation, yet is approachable and warm to be around.

Previous experience:
• I would prefer you have previous experience of working with people with additional needs (ADHD/Autism), and or mental health problems (bi-polar/ borderline personality disorder).

• Ideally a female, as the majority of my issues are caused by hormones. My condition fluctuates in line with my hormones. My capabilities of completing tasks are based on where I am in my menstrual cycle. My fluctuating conditions, means I can be unpredictable! One day I might manage to keep the house tidy and be on top of my chores, other days I can’t get out of bed.
I always try to give advance notice of any changes where I can (this is something I need help with) and I communicate changes using email or text

Is this role for you?
You:

• Have a strong moral compass that means you won’t compromise on your values (or mine).
• Don’t mind interacting and working with other members of my support team which includes medical professionals and members of my family.
• Possess a willingness to learn firsthand about my severe PMS conditions and I will provide or give you access to as part of your role. For example, ADHD and Autism Awareness.
• Are available during the week and weekends. 2 hours at the start of the week and 2 hours at the end of the week, for example Monday and Friday at 12;30 noon.
