Summary


We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse to lead the well-established, proactive team based at The Royal London Hospital. The service is networked across our 3 hospitals, Whipps Cross, Newham and The Royal London. You will lead, manage, and work with a team of Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurses, whilst working closely with Consultant Paediatricians, Endocrinologists, Dietitians and Clinical psychologists.

The service currently manages over 700 children and young people with diabetes. We offer a specialist service providing expert management of complex type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes in childhood and adolescence, rare forms of monogenic diabetes and neonatal diabetes.

The Lead Nurse will provide clear leadership and management direction across Barts Health Trust contributing to the development of diabetes standards and will participate in the delivery of the highly specialist aspects of paediatric diabetes care with a 50% clinical case load.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, forward-thinking nurse who has a strong team work ethic, a sense of accountability, leadership and autonomy and be a visionary, maintaining and developing the paediatric diabetes service for the future. This post is open to professionals with the right attributes to enhance our team.

The purpose of the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist for Paediatric Diabetes is to provide leadership and oversight for the Children’s Diabetes Services, across the Trust, including Whipps Cross, Newham and The Royal London Hospitals. The post holder will provide professional leadership and co-ordinate the overall managementof the nursing team.The lead nurse will work in clinical practice for 50% of the time and willbe responsible for leading and developing a patient-focused, supportive nursing care service(for children and young people with diabetes) and contributing to the strategic developmentofthepaediatricdiabetes service atBart’sHealthNHSTrust.

The post holder will actively lead on thecontinued development of the Paediatric Diabetes Service at Bart’s Health and work in close conjunctionwith the Multi-disciplinary Team.

The post holder will ensure that the aims and objectives of the Paediatric Diabetes Serviceare delivered and implemented to continually improving the standard of care that childrenand young people receive.The lead nurse will provide the highest level of expert nursingpractice, actingautonomously, toshapeanddevelophighqualityservicesacrossthetrust.

Thepostholderwillpromoteexcellenceinnursingpracticebydeliveringanadvancedlevel of nursing care to children and young people with diabetes, and their families, promoting achildfocusedandfamilycentered approach.
