Summary

Providing direct psychiatric services through the clinical assessment, diagnosis and care plan, risk assessment and management plans, treatment formulation, prescribing and work with the team on implementing evidence-based interventions. The post holder will be required to hold a caseload of patients (0-25 year olds) and review patients at a frequency according to their clinical need and risks. To work alongside Consultants and the multi-disciplinary team in the provision of services for this area and, in particular, to provide assessment and evaluation of cases where a eating/psychiatric disorder is suspected. The post holder will participate in formulating and implementing appropriate care plan around physical healthcare needs and monitoring for patients in SEDS. To consult with senior medical colleagues where further help with complex assessments is needed. To take clinical responsibility for any patient seen by him/ her, and for the advice he/she gives to members of the multi-disciplinary team. To provide mental health assessments on both new referrals and open cases, and continuing treatment in drug or psychological therapies. To support the SEDS MDT in interpretation of physical health checks, such as bloods and ECG, monitoring plans and risk management. This will also involve close liaison at times with acute medical colleagues in general hospitals regarding patients who require acute admission for physical stabilization and treatment. To write letters and communications to GPs and other professionals as required. To liaise with provider collaborative teams regarding patients at risk of hospital admission as required. To participate in various medical staff meetings within Forward Thinking Birmingham and BWC Mental Health Services as required. To perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances in consultation with senior and junior colleagues. To work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services, have flexibility to respond to changing service requirements. To participate in regular Audit and Quality Assurance programs to improve and maintain the high standard of service. To participate in all aspects of the Clinical Governance structure developed by the Trust to monitor, maintain and develop the quality and effectiveness of care.
