Introduction

Winchester School of Art is proud to be one of the UK’s leading art Schools and part of the world-renowned University of Southampton, a founder member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities. Our research-intensive environment and international student body provide a rich ground for interdisciplinary thinking and making at the nexus of art, science, technology, and culture.

Department of Fashion & Textiles

The Department of Fashion & Textiles is the school’s largest department, offering design, leadership & strategy, and marketing education, at undergraduate, taught-postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The department supports one of the largest international student communities in Europe studying fashion leadership, marketing, management, and strategy programmes, whilst sustaining a long-held reputation for the nurturing of high-level design practice and craft-based skills.

The role

The role will focus on high quality education delivery that complements the school and university’s broader strategy.

About You

You will have a proven track record of delivering an excellent standard of teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students and be able to develop a variety of learning and teaching approaches as well as undertake assessment. You will become a part of a dynamic group of academics who are leading the way in fashion leadership. Both relevant academic and industry experience are welcomed, and we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in buying, merchandising, and licencing.

What we can offer you

Working at the University of Southampton gives you access to a wide range of benefits in addition to our competitive rates of pay. As a university we aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive and are proactive in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity. We welcome applications from candidates who are committed to helping us create an inclusive work environment.

Committed to supporting our teaching and research community we are open to flexible working. With an understanding that there is a need to be on campus for teaching duties we are open to a hybrid approach. We give full consideration to applicants that wish to work flexibly including part-time and those who have taken a career break. Proud to be a founding signatory of the Athena Swan gender equality charter we hold an institutional Silver award.
