Summary
The role of reception / administrator is mainly an administrative role, and requires excellent people-person and communication skills, due to the patient-facing nature of the role. Duties and responsibilities of receptionists include, but are not limited to: appointments, handling telephone calls, document workflows, processing repeat prescription requests, completing tasks set by practice manager or doctors, opening/closing front doors, maintaining cleanliness of waiting area and consulting rooms, keeping noticeboards and patient areas up-to-date, working collaboratively as part of our practice team. The ideal candidate will have some experience of the NHS, however no previous GP surgery employment is required. Strong work-ethic, commitment to the role, flexibility and efficiency are key traits in a successful applicant. Although you will be well-supported by our existing administrative and management team, you must be able to work independently, autonomously, with a problem-solving and can-do attitude. As the first port of call for our patients, a friendly and warm welcome and excellent communication skills are crucial to this role. The surgery is fully computerised, so good IT and computer skills are a necessity. Successful applicants will be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as SystmOne (clinical system training provided).
