The Opportunity

You will play a key part in keeping our hospital operational activities moving smoothly (which is a priority for us). Once trained and competent as our Porter you will help us to create a safe and pleasant environment for customers and your peers. We will make sure you have the best training and development opportunities and you will be involved in a variety of new initiatives being implemented to help bring the best out of you.

Your role will be varied, each day never the same, interacting with a wide range of people that will make your job very interesting. Our goal is to give you job satisfaction and provide a healthy, safe working environment that you enjoy being in.

The Role:

  • Assisting with the moving of patients around the hospital on beds/trolleys and wheel chairs.

  • Carrying out routine pathology, samples and similar collections.

  • Ensuring storage areas are maintained, cleaned and tidy.

  • Helping to mitigate risk and sustain a good quality of décor by identifying building fabric areas in need of repair.

  • Transporting of equipment from one area to another.

  • Occasional use of simple tools and equipment.

  • Helping with deliveries & their drivers.

  • Supporting clinical staff as required.

  • Following our Health and Safety policies and procedures, ensuring that the location is tidy, pleasant, and safe for patients.

  • Sweeping of leaves in Autumn months to keep paths clear.

  • Collecting bulk linen to top up the department stock around the hospital.

  • Collecting general/clinical waste and disposing of in the correct manner.

The Person

As an individual with experience in a similar role, or the right aptitude you will:

  • Take pride in your work.

  • Be a good listener.

  • Provide general assistance and support as part of a professional team.

  • Care about our customers, so that you can organize your own work and plan your time to make sure Porterage activities never gets in the way of customer's experience.

  • Have good communication skills with a good basic level of English language (this will come in handy when you are working in a team with your colleagues, and also when you are interacting with our customers).

  • Possess good customer service skills, as this is a customer facing role.

  • Be looking for development opportunities.
