Summary

Job Description
To deliver high quality supervision and support for students within lessons.
To support students in making good behaviour choices and have high expectations.
To work with students and parents/carers to identify barriers which are preventing them from displaying the SGS Forest High values and support students' development.
To support the academic, social, moral and cultural development of students through the tutor role and to fully participate in the SGS Forest High extra-curricular programme.
General Requirements
Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with the school’s safeguarding and child protection policy.
Model and promote the positive values, attitudes and behaviours expected from the students with whom they work.
Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the SGS Forest High School’s policies or procedures.
Show flexibility in carrying out duties as required and know when to seek help and guidance.
Cover Supervisor
To take sole charge of a groups in the short term or unforeseen absence of their usual teacher.
Supervise students and their learning within the context of the learning environment, in accordance with the work set. Supervise other adults normally present in the learning environment e.g. Teaching Assistants.
Registering attendance in accordance with SGS Forest High School policy.
Responding to any questions from students about process and procedures and the work that they are engaged in.
Supporting students use of associated resources.
Manage the behaviour of students whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive learning environment.
Report back as appropriate using the SGS Forest High School agreed referral procedure (Class Charts) on the behaviour of students during the lesson(s) and any issues arising.
Student Support
Supporting the schools ‘on call’ pastoral system and appropriately triage those who are dysregulated who need of pastoral support, or those not meeting the behaviour expectations in lessons.
Providing tailored support to students who have a range of additional needs.
Provide students with strategies to help overcome barriers to learning.
Monitor student pastoral progress and produce regular reports.
