This role works alongside the Deputy Director for Safeguarding (Children) and supports the Director and Associate Director of Safeguarding in their roles in the delivery of the Trust’s safeguarding adults and children’s strategic and operational objectives, working across the whole Trust. The post holder will deputise for the Associate Director of Safeguarding and assume leadership and responsibility for delivery in specific areas of safeguarding practice.

This is a key trust wide strategic role, working alongside the senior leadership team for Safeguarding, Safeguarding Operational Leads, Divisional Directors of Nursing (and Deputies), in leading the Trust safeguarding agenda, ensuring that safeguarding activity across the Trust is robust and in line with legislation. This includes maintaining compliance with commissioning and partnership standards, national and local guidelines, and best practice.

The post holder will act as the lead for identified areas of safeguarding practice, supporting the changing local and national safeguarding priorities and objectives. This will include the Domestic Abuse and Prevent agenda’s, ensuring the Trust complies with national, regional, and local policies and initiatives.

The post holder will work in partnership with the Deputy Director of Safeguarding (Children) and will be expected to cross cover for planned periods of leave and both roles will develop all age competencies.

The post holder will provide leadership in the development of a robust culture of safeguarding practice across the trust acting as the lead for safeguarding in the absence of the Associate Director of Safeguarding.

The post holder will offer highly specialist and complex safeguarding leadership to divisional and corporate safeguarding programs, to enhance safeguarding practice across the Trust.

The post holder will role model a consistently high-quality of safeguarding practice by promoting safeguarding best practice and continuous service improvements through visible and present leadership, effective teamwork, and empowerment of staff.

The post holder will be the Trust senior operational lead for the Domestic Abuse and Prevent agenda.
